Check the App Store listing for the current price, system requirements, and purchase eligibility.

Store and account

Store region and app availability

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. Search results depend on the country or region associated with the Apple Account used for the App Store—not your device’s display language or your current location. Even if the link on this page points to the US product page, you may see a prompt to switch storefronts or a notice that the app is unavailable. The region in the link does not change your account’s storefront.

If you can’t find the app, first check which store account you’re using. The account for cloud services on your device may differ from the one used for Media & Purchases. Check the account actually used for App Store purchases to determine whether the app is available and whether you have a purchase record. The name shown at the top of Settings alone may not be enough.

Check your country or region

  1. Open Settings on your device, then tap your Apple Account at the top.
  2. Tap Media & Purchases, then follow the prompts to View Account. You may need to verify your identity.
  3. Open Country/Region to check your current storefront. If you need to change it, the official account settings are also available here. Select the relevant option and review the system prompts.
  4. Return to the App Store and reopen the Shadowrocket product page to see whether a price or Purchased status appears.

Changing your country or region may involve conditions related to account balance, existing subscriptions, Family Sharing, and payment methods. Read the prompts on your account page before deciding whether to proceed. Opening the change settings does not guarantee that the change can be completed. This page explains where to find the settings; Apple’s account process determines eligibility, required steps, and information. Menu labels may vary slightly by system version, so follow what appears on your device.

If you’ve confirmed the region but still can’t see the app, check content restrictions, Screen Time settings, and messages on the product page. Devices managed by a family or organization may have additional restrictions. Note the exact message and distinguish between “unavailable in this storefront,” “device not compatible,” and “payment verification incomplete”—each requires different steps.

For more on accounts and storefronts, see the App Store guide. All App Store links on this page go to the same product listing. Return to the top to open it again while checking your details.

Before you buy

Developer, official icon, and app ID

Similar names, search rankings and lookalike apps are not enough to verify Shadowrocket. Before buying, open the full App Store listing and check the developer, official icon and app ID. Confirm all three match before proceeding.

Three checks to verify the app

  1. Developer: Shadow Launch Technology Limited. Check the developer or provider details on the App Store product page and match the full English name—not just the app title.
  2. Official icon: A rocket with a blue-purple outline on a white background, matching the official icon in this site’s header. Icon similarity is only one part of verification; also check the developer and app ID.
  3. App ID: 932747118. The product page URL ends in id932747118, which identifies the app more precisely than the name shown in search results.

When you open the product page in a browser, check the app ID in the address bar. In the App Store, share the product page to get its URL and verify the ID. If the page title matches but the developer name or number in the URL does not, it is not the app described here. Don’t rely on a similar icon or matching keywords in the description instead of checking all three details.

After verifying the app, check the product page for compatibility, price, and update history. Update notes describe changes to the app; price and system requirements help you decide whether it suits your device and account. Store information can change, so refer to the listing as it appears when you open it. This page does not substitute a fixed version number or past listing details for current App Store information.

The purchase confirmation sheet also displays current transaction details. Check the purchasing account, currency, and amount due, then verify as prompted. If the product page details don’t match your expectations, exit the confirmation flow and recheck the developer and app ID instead of paying first and checking afterward.

Primary devices

Get Shadowrocket on iPhone and open it for the first time

On your iPhone, open the App Store product page linked at the top of this page. Verify the three details, then check the button. A displayed price usually means the current store account isn’t recognized as having purchased the app. A redownload icon lets you restore it as prompted. If you believe you’ve already purchased it, check the account and transaction in your purchase history before paying again based on the button alone.

For your first purchase, follow the App Store prompts to pay and verify your identity. Wait for installation to finish before opening the app. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements; expand the compatibility section before buying to check that your device meets them. Being able to view the product page does not mean your device meets the requirements to run the app—check both separately.

Understanding the VPN configuration authorization on first connection

Installing the app and connecting are two separate steps. If you already have your own subscription or server details, import them in the app first, then check your connection settings. The first time you enable a connection, the system may ask permission to add a VPN configuration. This authorizes the system to register the network connection configuration. Confirm that the request came from the Shadowrocket app you just opened, then follow your device’s prompts.

VPN configuration authorization is not a new app purchase and does not provide a working connection. Even after granting permission, check that your own server details are complete, your subscription is valid, the selected server is correct, and Global Routing is set as expected. “App installed,” “configuration authorized,” and “connection working” are separate outcomes.

If installation is stuck on Waiting or showing no progress, check your network connection, available device storage, account verification, and any App Store payment messages first. The app cannot yet start normally, so changing in-app rules won’t fix an App Store download issue. Once installation is complete, see the first import and connection guide. Follow the available options, such as Home, Add Server, or Subscribe.

Universal purchase

Install on iPad and use on other Apple devices

Shadowrocket is a universal app for iPhone and iPad. After purchasing with the same Apple Account, open the same product page on a compatible iPad or redownload the app from Purchased in the App Store. Make sure Media & Purchases on the iPad uses the original purchasing account. Matching account details elsewhere on the device do not replace this check.

The iPad’s larger display means lists, forms, and layouts may differ from those on iPhone, including in portrait and landscape orientations. Look for interface labels such as Home, Config, and Settings rather than relying only on button positions. Your existing subscription, server parameters, and connection target mean the same thing, but you should still check that they imported correctly on the iPad.

App purchase history and personal settings are separate. If Shadowrocket connects on your iPhone, that does not mean all connection details will be available automatically after installing it on an iPad. When you first open the app on a new device, check whether your configuration is present. If not, import your own subscription or server details and grant the required system VPN configuration authorization again.

Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision

The compatibility section of the same App Store listing also names Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. To use Shadowrocket on one of these devices, check the same product page on that device. Refer to the App Store listing for universal purchase availability, supported devices, and system requirements. Don’t assume that purchase eligibility on iPhone or iPad automatically applies to other devices.

If the App Store shows that the app is available on your target device, follow that device’s purchase or download flow. If it says the app is incompatible, check the compatibility section for the specific requirements. If a price appears when you expected to be eligible for a previous purchase, first verify the store account on the target device and the purchase’s eligibility. Screen size and input method can affect the layout; the detailed first-connection steps on this page focus on iPhone and iPad.

New device and reinstall

Restore the app from Purchased

When you get a new device or reinstall the app, first restore your purchase eligibility, then handle your personal settings. If you use the original purchasing Apple Account and the purchase is still eligible for restoration, redownload the app from Purchased without paying again. A first installation on a new device is not necessarily a new purchase; what matters is whether the store recognizes the original transaction.

  1. On the new device, check the Apple Account under Media & Purchases and confirm it’s the account used for the original purchase.
  2. Open the App Store, go to your account page, and find Purchased. On some system versions, the relevant section is under the Apps list; follow the labels shown on your device.
  3. Search for Shadowrocket, verify the developer and app ID, then choose to redownload it.
  4. After installation, open the app and check whether your personal settings are present. If needed, import your own subscription or server details.
  5. Check Global Routing, the selected server, and system connection authorization, then test the connection.

If Shadowrocket isn’t in Purchased, first check whether you’re signed in to a different purchasing account, whether you hid the item, and whether the transaction appears in your purchase history. Being signed in successfully only confirms that the account was verified; it doesn’t prove that the account purchased Shadowrocket. Checking your purchase history is more useful than repeatedly searching for the app name.

If you previously bought the app but the product page still shows a price, don’t pay yet. Recheck the store account, purchase history, and region. A change in account region, a hidden item, or a different transaction status may affect how restoration appears. If you’ve been charged but the download hasn’t finished, verify the transaction before confirming another purchase.

Family Sharing and configuration transfer

Check the App Store listing and Apple Family Sharing settings to see whether Family Sharing applies to this purchase. You may need to verify whether purchase sharing is enabled, your family membership, and the store region. Being part of a family group alone does not guarantee that every member can restore the app.

Redownloading restores the app itself. Check separately whether personal subscriptions, server details, and rules will transfer to your new device. Before switching devices, check that your configuration backup and original details are available, and keep them safe. Avoid sharing subscription content that contains account credentials. When describing an issue to someone else, provide the error message without sensitive information.

Payment and usage

One-time purchase and connection configuration

Shadowrocket is a one-time purchase; the app itself is not billed monthly. The US storefront price is $2.99, while other storefronts show local currency. Check the App Store product page and payment confirmation for the current price, tax treatment, and final transaction amount. When comparing prices, check the currency too; amounts from different storefronts are not directly comparable.

The app processes connections, routing, and rules according to your configuration; app purchases do not determine connection availability or service status. So if you don’t have server details after paying, that doesn’t mean the purchase failed—it means connection setup is not complete. If you already have your own subscription or server details, follow the relevant Add Server or Subscribe flow and import the original parameters.

Likewise, repurchasing the app won’t fix an expired subscription, incorrect server details, or a server-side issue. For connection problems, first check that the app is installed and system authorization is complete, then check your own configuration and connection service. Separating App Store transaction issues from connection issues can help you avoid repeat payments or irrelevant setting changes.

Check updates and transaction history separately

App updates are delivered through the App Store. Check for available updates on your store account page or use automatic updates in your device settings. Check the store for current update availability and release notes. If the interface changes after an update, look for the relevant English interface label first, then consult the corresponding section of the official manual.

Check the purchase amount and account associated with the transaction in your Apple purchase history. For a failed payment, a possible duplicate charge, or a refund request, use the transaction support options provided in your account. The relevant process determines whether a request is accepted and its outcome. This page explains how purchases work and the steps involved; it does not guarantee a particular transaction result.

After purchase and installation, check your personal settings before connecting for the first time. To learn how Config, Proxy, and Direct differ, see the quick reference. If an existing configuration won’t connect, use the FAQ to troubleshoot by symptom instead of returning to the purchase flow and paying again.

Frequently asked questions

Download, purchase, and restore FAQs

First identify whether the issue is with the store, installation, or connection, then follow the relevant steps. These FAQs correspond to the sections on this page and can be expanded as you check each item.

Why can’t I find Shadowrocket on the App Store?

Shadowrocket is not available on the mainland China App Store. First check the store region associated with your account under Settings > Apple Account > Media & Purchases > View Account > Country/Region, then open the App Store product page linked here. App availability depends on your account’s storefront and the listing’s current status. If it appears unavailable, check the region rather than repeatedly changing your search terms.

The product page opens, but the download won’t finish. What should I do?

Note the App Store message, then check account verification, payment status, available device storage, network connectivity, and system compatibility. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements. If you’ve been charged, check your purchase history and purchased items first; don’t repeatedly confirm the purchase. Until the download completes, troubleshoot the issue at the App Store and system level.

Do I have to pay again after getting a new iPhone?

If you use the original purchasing Apple Account and the purchase is still eligible for restoration, you can redownload the app from Purchased in your App Store account without paying again. If a price still appears, check the account used for Media & Purchases and your purchase history. Restoring the app and restoring personal settings are separate steps; check and import your own subscription or server details on the new device.

I bought Shadowrocket on iPhone. Can I install it on iPad too?

Shadowrocket is a universal app for iPhone and iPad. After purchasing with the same Apple Account, you can redownload it from Purchased on a compatible iPad. Refer to the App Store listing for system requirements. Check separately whether your personal settings have transferred to the iPad; installing the app alone does not restore connection settings.

Can I use the same App Store listing on Mac, Apple TV, or Apple Vision?

The compatibility section of the same App Store product page lists Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. Check the listing on your target device. Refer to the App Store page for universal purchase availability and system requirements. Once you’ve confirmed device compatibility and purchase eligibility, get the app from the App Store on that device.

Where should I start if the app opens in English?

Start by identifying interface labels such as Home, Add Server, Subscribe, Config, and Global Routing. If you already have your own subscription or server details, import them using the official manual. The configuration modes are Config, Proxy, and Direct. The interface language does not change which storefront your purchase belongs to. See the tutorials for detailed connection steps.
